Let's take a minute to talk about your medication. This is Ketotifen eye drops. It helps to relieve the symptoms of eye irritation and itchiness that can be caused by allergens such as pollen, animals, or dust. It may have other uses, too. Ketotifen is often used two times each day, in the affected eye(s). You should use it exactly as your doctor tells you to. To use the eye drops, wash your hands and shake the bottle well. Then, make a small pocket in your lower eyelid by gently pulling down or pinching the skin. Lastly, hold the bottle above your eye and gently squeeze a drop into the pocket. It's important to keep the bottle tip free from germs. So, don't let the tip touch anything, and keep it tightly covered when not in use. If you wear contact lenses, wait at least 10 minutes after you place drops into your eye to use your contacts. You should continue to use this medicine for as long as your doctor tells you to, even if your eye starts to feel better. Most people tolerate this medicine well. Common side effects include headache, redness of the eyes, and a stuffy or runny nose. These are normal if they are mild and should go away. If these or other side effects become the reason you want to stop taking this medicine, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist. As with any medicine, rare but serious side effects could occur. You should read the Patient Information Sheet to know which symptoms to watch for and when to report changes. Ketotifen can interact with other medicines.
