Let's take a minute to talk about your medication. This is Verapamil. It can be used to treat high blood pressure, reduce chest pain, and help control an irregular heartbeat. It may have other uses, too.  You should take it exactly as your doctor tells you to. It is often taken three times each day. You can take your dose with or without food. Most people tolerate this medicine well. Common side effects include constipation, nausea, and a headache. It can also cause low blood pressure and dizziness. You should wait until you know how this medicine affects you before you do activities that require you to be alert, like driving. If these or other side effects become reasons you want to stop taking this medicine, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist. As with any medicine, rare but more serious side effects could occur. Verapamil can interact with other medicines. You should always check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking other medicines. Also, you should not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice.
