Let's take a minute to talk about your medication.

This is Lialda. It helps to treat ulcerative colitis and keep the symptoms under control. It may have other uses, too.

It is often taken one time each day with a meal. Your doctor will decide what dose is right for you. You should take it exactly as your doctor tells you to. You should swallow the tablets whole. Never chew, crush, or cut them.

Most people tolerate this medicine well. Common side effects include headache, flatulence, and abdominal pain. These effects are normal if they are mild and should go away. Some people may have worsening of their ulcerative colitis symptoms. If these or other side effects become reasons you want to stop taking this medicine, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

As with any medicine, rare but serious side effects could occur. With Lialda, this includes liver, kidney, skin, and heart problems. You should read the Patient Information Sheet to know which symptoms to watch for and when to report changes. To help keep this medicine safe for you, your doctor will follow your condition closely and may order blood tests.

Lialda can interact with other medicines. You should always check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking other medicines.

Women should check with their doctors before becoming pregnant and before breastfeeding.

For best results with Lialda, take it exactly as prescribed and talk to your doctor if your condition gets worse instead of better.
