Let's take a minute to talk about your medication.  

This is Ciclopirox nail lacquer. It helps to treat fungal infections of the fingernails or toenails. It may have other uses too.  

Ciclopirox is applied topically to the nails. It is usually applied once daily, before going to bed. You should use it exactly as your doctor tells you to. Apply the nail lacquer daily and only remove it once per week with alcohol. Make sure to also follow your doctor's instructions for nail care. Most people tolerate this medicine well. The most common side effect is skin irritation such as redness, burning, or a rash. Some people also reported changes in nail shape or color. This is normal if it is mild and should go away. If these or other side effects become reasons you want to stop taking this medicine, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.  

As with any medicine, rare but serious side effects could occur. You should read the Patient Information Sheet to know which symptoms to watch for and when to report changes. 

Women should check with their doctors before becoming pregnant and before breastfeeding.
