Let's take a minute to talk about your medication.  

This is Azelaic Acid gel. You may hear it called by its brand name 'Finacea' It helps to treat certain skin conditions, like rosacea. It may have other uses, too.  

Azelaic Acid is applied topically to the affected area of skin. It is usually applied twice daily, in the morning and the evening. You should use it exactly as your doctor tells you to. First, clean the affected area of skin with a mild soap. Make sure to pat the area dry before applying the medicine. Azelaic Acid is available in a tube and a pump. You should read the 'Instructions for Use' for full information. If you still have questions, your doctor or pharmacist can help. 

Most people tolerate this medicine well. Common side effects include skin irritation and redness. This may include itching, burning, tingling, and dryness. This is normal if it is mild and should go away. If these or other side effects become reasons you want to stop taking this medicine, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.  

As with any medicine, rare but serious side effects could occur. You should read the Patient Information Sheet to know which symptoms to watch for and when to report changes. 

Women should check with their doctors before becoming pregnant and before breastfeeding.
