Let's take a minute to talk about your medication.

This is Viberzi. It helps to treat diarrhea in patients with irritable bowel syndrome or 'IBS'. You should take this medicine exactly as your doctor tells you.  You should also take your doses with food.

Most people tolerate this medication well.  Common side effects include constipation, nausea and abdominal pain.  These are normal if they are mild and should go away.  You could feel drowsy or dizzy. You should wait until you know how this medicine affects you before you drive or drink alcohol. If these or other side effects become reasons you want to stop taking this medicine, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

As with any medicine, more serious side effects can occur.  With Viberzi, these include allergic reactions, problems with your pancreas, severe constipation, and pain in the stomach area.  You should read the Medication Guide to know which symptoms to watch for and when to report them.

Viberzi can interact with other medicines.  You should always check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking any other medicines.  

Women should talk to their doctors before becoming pregnant or breastfeeding.

Viberzi is controlled by federal law. It can lead to drug dependence or abuse. Be sure to store it a safe place to prevent abuse, misuse and harm.
