Let's take a minute to talk about your medication.  

This is Sulfacetamide sodium and sulfur topical. It helps treat certain skin conditions, like acne, rosacea, and dermatitis. It may have other uses, too.  

Sulfacetamide and sulfur is applied to the affected area of skin. It is often used one or two times a day. You should use it exactly as your doctor tells you to. First, wet the area of skin. Then apply the medicine. Next, gently massage the medicine into the skin for 10-20 seconds. Lastly, rinse off the medicine completely and pat the area dry. Do not apply this medicine to the eyes, eyelids, lips, or mouth.  

Most people tolerate this medicine well. The most common side effect is skin irritation. This is normal if it is mild and should go away. If these or other side effects become reasons you want to stop taking this medicine, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.  

As with any medicine, rare but serious side effects could occur. With Sulfacetamide and sulfur, this includes an allergic reaction. Always tell your doctor about any medication allergies you have before starting a new medicine. Also, you should tell your doctor if you have ever been diagnosed with kidney disease. You should read the patient information sheet to know which symptoms to watch for and when to report changes. 

Women should check with their doctors before becoming pregnant and before breastfeeding.
