Let's take a minute to talk about your medication.

This is Quillichew ER. This medicine is a stimulant, but it calms people with ADHD, so they can focus, work, and learn. It may have other uses, too.

Quillichew ER is often taken once a day in the morning. This allows it to work during the day, and to wear off before bedtime. Take it exactly as prescribed. Also, do not drink alcohol. This medicine can be taken with or without food. 

Quillichew ER is a chewable tablet. You should chew the tablet completely before swallowing and drink a full glass of water with each dose.

This medicine is considered safe when it is taken under a doctor's care. Still, you should wait until you know how it affects you, or your child, before doing activities like driving or riding a bike. Common side effects include a loss of appetite, nausea, stomach pain and indigestion. Others include trouble sleeping, anxiety, irritability and feeling a little dizzy. These effects are normal if they are mild and should go away. Doctors will check for increases in blood pressure and heart rate. They will also make sure children keep growing. If these or other effects become reasons you want to stop taking this medicine, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

As with any medicine, more serious side effects could occur. With Quillichew ER, this includes concerning thoughts or behaviors, and problems with the fingers and toes. You should read the Medication Guide to know which symptoms to watch for and when to report them.

Quillichew ER is controlled by federal law because it can lead to abuse and dependence. Be sure to store it in a safe place away from others.
