Let's take a minute to talk about your medication. This is Zepatier. It treats certain types of Hepatitis C infections. Zepatier is often taken once daily. You should take it exactly as directed by your doctor, and at the same time each day. You can take the dose with food, or without food. Be sure to leave each tablet in the original package until a dose is due. Also, it is important not to miss any doses. If you do, ask your pharmacist how to handle the missed dose. Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, headache or problems sleeping. You could also feel tired. These effects are normal if they are mild, and should go away. Still, you should report possible side effects to your doctor, to make sure they are not caused by a more serious condition. As with any medicine, more serious side effects can occur. With Zepatier, liver problems could happen. This could cause you to feel tired or weak, or to have vomiting, a loss of appetite, changes to the color of your stools, or yellowing skin or eyes. Tell your doctor right away if you notice these or other unusual changes to your body. You should always check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking other medicines, even if they do not require a prescription. Women MUST talk to their doctors BEFORE becoming pregnant or breastfeeding. To help keep this medicine safe for you, your doctor will order blood tests and follow you closely. You should read the "Patient Package Insert". If you take another medicine called 'ribavirin', be sure to read the "Medication Guide" for ribavirin also. For best results with Zepatier, ask about support services that are available, and take it as long as directed.
