You should take it exactly as your doctor tells you to. You can take it with or without food. You should take it with water, and swallow the tablet whole. Most people tolerate this medicine well. Side effects include a dry mouth, blurred vision, trouble emptying the bladder, urinary tract infections, and constipation. You should ask your doctor how to prevent constipation, and when to report symptoms. Another possible side effect is drowsiness. Drinking alcohol can make drowsiness worse. You should wait until you know how Vesicare affects you before doing activities that require you to be alert, like driving. If these or other side effects become reasons you want to stop taking this medicine, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist. It's important to know that this medicine can make your body sweat less. You will need to take care to stay cool in hot weather. You should stay in the shade, drink plenty of water, and avoid too much physical activity. As with any medicine, rare but more serious side effects could occur, like an allergic reaction. Get medical help right away if you have a rash, itching, trouble breathing or swelling in your face or mouth. Drug interactions can occur.
