Let's take a minute to talk about your medication. This is Temodar. It helps treat certain brain cancer tumors. Temodar capsules are available in different strengths. Your doctor may prescribe more than one strength for your dose. It is very important that you know what your dose is. If you have ANY questions, be sure to ask your doctor or pharmacist. Most people like to take Temodar on an empty stomach, or at bedtime, to help reduce nausea. You should take your dose with a full glass of water, and swallow the capsules whole. You should not open or chew the capsule, or get any of the capsule powder on you. Many people will have side effects. You could have nausea or vomiting, or feel dizzy, tired, clumsy or weak. Other common side effects are a headache, loss of appetite, hair loss, sleep problems, memory loss, and either constipation or diarrhea. You should talk to your health care team about which symptoms to watch for, and when to report them. They will help you manage them. Also, you should wait until you know how Temodar affects you before you do activities that require you to be alert, like driving. As with any medicine, more serious side effects can occur. To help keep this medicine safe for you, your doctor will follow your condition closely. Both MEN AND WOMEN who take Temodar must use effective birth control. Also, women should not breastfeed.
