This is Ribasphere, and it contains a medicine called ribavirin. You should take your dose with food. It's a good idea to drink ample amounts of fluid each day to avoid becoming dehydrated. You should swallow Ribasphere capsules whole. 

Ribasphere treats Hepatitis C infection. Your doctor will also prescribe another medicine for Hepatitis C. You must take both medicines exactly as directed. 

It is normal to have side effects, like feeling like you have the flu. You could also feel tired or dizzy. So, wait until you know how it affects you before doing things that require you to be alert, like driving. Some patients have an upset stomach, loss of appetite or trouble sleeping. Other effects include hair loss, itching, or feeling anxious or irritable. These are normal if they are mild, and should go away. If these or other side effects become reasons you want to stop taking this medicine, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist. 

As with any medicine, more serious side effects could occur, like low blood counts. You should read the 'Medication Guide' to know what to watch for. To help keep this medicine safe for you, your doctor will order blood tests and follow you closely.

This medicine is unsafe for babies during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Neither you nor your sexual partner can be pregnant, and you must agree to use two forms of birth control to prevent becoming pregnant. These precautions must continue for 6 months after stopping Ribasphere.
