Let's take a minute to talk about your medication. This is Quillivant XR. This medicine is a stimulant, but it calms people with ADHD, so they can focus, work and learn. It may have other uses, too. Quillivant XR is often taken once a day in the morning. This allows it to work during the day, and to wear off before bedtime. Take it exactly as prescribed. Also, do not drink alcohol. Quillivant XR is a liquid medicine. You must shake the bottle before every dose and use the dose dispenser to measure each dose. You should read the 'Instructions for Use' for full information. This medicine is considered safe when it is taken under a doctor's care. Still, you should wait until you know how it affects you, or your child, before doing activities like driving, or riding a bike. Common side effects include a loss of appetite, nausea, stomach pain and indigestion. Others include trouble sleeping, anxiety, irritability or feeling a little dizzy. These effects are normal if they are mild and should go away. Doctors will check for increases in blood pressure and heart rate. They will also make sure children keep growing. If these or other side effects become reasons you want to stop taking Quillivant XR, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist. As with any medicine, more serious side effects can occur. With Quillivant XR, this includes concerning thoughts or behaviors, and problems with the fingers and toes. You should read the Medication Guide to know which symptoms to watch for and when to report them. Quillivant XR is controlled by federal law because it can lead to abuse and dependence. Be sure to store it in a safe place away from others. For best results with Quillivant XR, work with the doctor to find the lowest dose that works best.
