Let's take a minute to talk about your medication. This is ProAir Respiclick. This inhaler contains a medicine called 'albuterol'. This medicine can help treat or prevent wheezing and shortness of breath that are caused by asthma or other lung conditions. ProAir works quickly, and the effects should last for 4 to 6 hours. ProAir is usually well-tolerated. Still, some side effects could occur, including a rapid heart rate, palpitations, tremors and nervousness. These effects are normal if they are mild and should go away soon. If these or other effects become reasons you want to stop using the inhaler, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Be sure to read the Patient Information leaflet for more information. You should get medical help right away if you ever feel like your breathing is getting worse, or if you need to use the inhaler more often than usual. Before using the inhaler, you should review the 'Instructions for Use'. In general, there are 4 simple steps. First, remove the cap. Second, exhale completely. Third, seal your lips around the mouthpiece. And lastly, take a deep breath to inhale the medicine into your lungs. Try to hold your breath for about 10 seconds. If needed, you can gently clean the mouthpiece with a dry cloth or tissue. You should store the inhaler at room temperature with the cap on. Also, throw the inhaler away when the dose counter reads 'zero' or sooner if it becomes expired. For best results, use ProAir exactly as prescribed, and follow your doctor's recommendations for lifestyle changes that may help you breathe easier.
