Let's take a minute to talk about your medication.    This is oxiconazole. You may hear it called by the brand name 'Oxistat'. This medicine is used to treat skin infections caused by fungus.    This medicine is available in many forms, such as in a cream and a lotion. It is often applied to the skin one or two times each day. You should use it exactly as your doctor tells you to. You should apply it to the affected area of skin. Then, rub it in gently until the skin absorbs most of it. Be sure to wash your hands with soap and water after use. You should not cover the treated area with bandages, wraps, or diapers, unless your doctor says it is okay. It is a good idea, though, to wear loose-fitting clothing over the area so other people do not come in contact with it. It is important to know that this medicine should only be used on skin that is outside of the body, and never on the eyes, mouth or vaginal area.   Most people tolerate this medicine well. You should tell your doctor if the area gets worse instead of better. For instance, tell your doctor if you notice increased irritation, itching, burning, blistering, swelling or oozing.   For best results with this medicine, do not miss doses. Also, you should finish the full course of treatment, even if your symptoms get better. Lastly, be sure to tell your doctor if your condition does not improve after 2 to 4 weeks.
