Let's take a minute to talk about your medication.

This is nystatin cream. It treats infections of the skin that are caused by a common fungus. 

Nystatin cream is often applied once in the morning and once in the evening. You should apply it as directed by your doctor. It's important not to miss any doses. 

Before each use, you should wash and dry your hands and the affected area of skin. Then, apply a liberal amount of the cream and rub it gently until the skin absorbs most of it. When finished, put the lid back on the medicine, wash your hands, and place the towel in the laundry. If the infection is on your hand, you will need to take care not to wash off the medicine after applying it.

You should see an improvement in the skin in a few days. Still, you should continue to use this medicine for as long as directed. Otherwise, the infection could return.

Most people tolerate this medicine well. Rare side effects include burning, itching or an allergic reaction. If these or other side effects occur, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

It is important to know that this medicine should only be used on the outside of the body, and not in the eyes, vagina or mouth.

For best results with nystatin, let your doctor know if the infection does not improve, or if it gets worse instead of better.
