Let's take a minute to talk about your medication. This is Ninlaro. This medicine treats multiple myeloma that has already been treated at least once before. Your doctor will also prescribe two other medicines. They are called Revlimid and dexamethasone. Ninlaro is taken in cycles. Each cycle lasts 4 weeks. The usual dose of Ninlaro is one capsule taken once a week, on the same day of the week, for three weeks. Ninlaro is not taken during the fourth week. Then, the next cycle begins. You should take Ninlaro exactly as directed by your doctor. Also, you should take Ninlaro on an empty stomach. This means you should take it at least 2 hours after eating food. After the dose, you should not eat for at least 1 hour. You should swallow the capsules whole, and drink a glass of water with your dose. Do not crush, chew or open the capsules. Ninlaro can cause some common side effects. They include back pain and swelling in the feet or hands. Others include stomach problems like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation. It can cause nerve problems, like tingling, pain or numbness. Ninlaro can also cause low counts of platelets in your blood, which could cause easy bruising or bleeding. It can cause liver problems, which could cause pain in your right upper-stomach area or make your skin or eyes turn yellow. You must tell your doctor if you have any of these side effects or others. Your doctor may need to treat your symptoms or change your treatment plan. To help keep this medicine safe for you, your doctor will follow you closely and will order you blood tests.
