Let's take a minute to talk about your medication.

This is Mavyret. It treats certain types of hepatitis C infections. It may have other uses, too.

The recommended dose is 3 tablets taken at the same time each day. You should take Mavyret exactly how your doctor tells you to. You should take it with food. 

It is important to not miss doses. If you miss a dose, you should follow the '18 hour rule'. If it is LESS THAN 18 hours since you were supposed to take the dose, you should take it. If it is MORE THAN 18 hours since you were supposed to take the dose, you should NOT take it. Instead, just take the next dose at the usual time.   

Most people tolerate this medicine well. Common side effects include headache and feeling tired. These effects are normal if they are mild, and should go away. If these or other side effects become reasons you want to stop taking this medicine, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist. 

As with any medicine, rare but more serious side effects could occur. For example, if you have had hepatitis B before, Mavyret could cause it to reappear. This could cause liver problems. To help keep this medicine safe for you your doctor will order blood tests and follow your condition closely.

Drug interactions can occur. You should ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking other medicines, even if they do not require a prescription.

Women should talk to their doctors before becoming pregnant or breastfeeding.
