Let's take a minute to talk about your medication. This is Intelence. It helps treat HIV-1 infection and keep it under control. Your doctor will prescribe other HIV medicines, too. Intelence is often taken two times each day. You should take it exactly as your doctor tells you to. You should always take this medicine after a meal, such as after your morning meal and after your evening meal. You should swallow the tablet whole and do not chew it. If you have problems swallowing the tablet, ask your pharmacist for advice. It is important to not miss any doses. If you do, the virus could increase and become harder to treat. Common side effects in adults include tingling, numbness or pain in the hands or feet. In children, diarrhea is common. These effects are normal if they are mild and should go away. Rash is common, but it can also be very serious. Tell your doctor right away if you have a rash. If these or other side effects become reasons you want to stop taking this medicine, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist. As with any medicine, serious side effects could occur. With Intelence, these include allergic reactions, changes to your immune system, and changes to the shape of your body. You should read the 'Patient Information Guide' to know which symptoms to watch for and when to report changes. To help keep this medicine safe for you, your doctor will follow your condition closely. Intelence can have interactions with other medicines. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking any other medicines, herbal supplements or vitamins. Women must talk to their doctors before becoming pregnant and should not breastfeed.
