Let's take a minute to talk about your medication. This is Ibrance. It helps treat breast cancer that is HR-positive, HER2-negative, and that has spread to other parts of the body. Ibrance may have other uses, too. This medicine is taken once a day for 21 days, followed by NO DOSES for 7 days. You should take it exactly as your doctor tells you to. Take each dose with food, and always swallow the capsule whole. Do not take any capsule that is crushed, opened, or damaged. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, a decreased appetite, and a sore mouth. Others include hair thinning or hair loss. Your doctor will tell you what symptoms to watch for, and when to report them. As with any medicine, more serious side effects can occur. With Ibrance, this includes low counts of cells in the blood. - Low white blood cell counts put you at risk for serious infections. Tell your doctor right away if you have a fever or chills, or if you think you have an infection. - Low red blood cell counts can make you feel dizzy, weak or short of breath. - Low platelet counts can cause easy bleeding or bruising.
