Let's take a minute to talk about your medication. This is Harvoni. It helps treat certain types of Hepatitis C. It may have other uses, too. Harvoni is often taken once a day, at the same time each day. You should take it exactly as your doctor tells you to. You can take your dose with or without food. It is important not to miss any doses. If you do, contact your doctor or pharmacist for instructions on handling missed doses. Many people will have side effects. Common side effects include a headache and feeling a little weak or tired. These effects are normal if they are mild and should go away. If these or other side effects become reasons you want to stop taking this medicine, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Do not stop taking Harvoni unless your doctor says it's ok. As with any medicine, rare but more serious side effects could occur. You should read the Patient Information sheet to know which symptoms to watch for and when to report them. If you have previously had Hepatitis B, Harvoni could cause it to become active again. To help keep this medicine safe for you, your doctor will order blood tests and will follow your condition closely. Harvoni can have dangerous interactions with other medicines. You should always check with your doctor and pharmacist before taking other medicines, even if they do not require a prescription. Women should talk to their doctors before becoming pregnant and before breastfeeding. For best results with Harvoni, you should plan ahead for refills and always store the tablets in the original container.
