Let's take a minute to talk about your medication. This is Euflexxa. It is designed to restore the natural cushion and lubricant in the knee. This may help relieve pain from osteoarthritis. Your doctor will inject Euflexxa into your knee. You should ask your doctor if someone needs to drive you home. It is common to get repeat injections once a week for a total of three doses. Many patients report pain relief that lasts for about 6 months. After each injection, you should limit your physical activity for 48 hours. For example, do not stand for more than an hour at a time, and do not exercise. Normal walking is okay. This is important to help keep the swelling down. Most patients tolerate Euflexxa well, but some side effects can occur. You could have pain at the injection site or in the knee. You could also have stiffness, swelling or warmth in or around the knee. Your doctor will tell you if it is okay to apply ice to the knee. These effects are normal if they are mild, and should go away. You should call your doctor if the reactions are severe, or if they get worse instead of better. Also call if you notice any other unusual changes to your knee, leg or body. For best results with Euflexxa, follow your doctor's advice for other helpful therapies that can improve your joint pain.
