Let's take a minute to talk about your medication. This is Epclusa. This medicine treats certain types of hepatitis C infections. Each tablet of Epclusa contains two medicines. Epclusa is taken as one tablet each day, at the same time each day. You can take it with or without food. You should take Epclusa exactly as your doctor tells you to. It is important not to miss or skip doses during treatment. You may want to track your doses with a calendar. But, do not use a pill box. Instead, you should store Epclusa in the original bottle. The most common side effects are headaches and feeling tired. These are normal if they are mild, and should improve. If these or other side effects become reasons you want to stop taking Epclusa, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist. If you take a heart medicine called 'amiodarone' with Epclusa, you should know that a dangerous, slow heart beat could happen. Be sure to ask your doctor what symptoms to watch for. Other drug interactions could happen. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking any other medicines. Women should talk to their doctors before becoming pregnant or breastfeeding. Your doctor may prescribe another medicine called 'ribavirin'. If so, you must read the Medication Guide for ribavirin. It has important information for both men and women about birth control and infertility. Ribavirin is not safe for unborn babies. For best results with Epclusa, ask about support services for patients that are available. Also, be sure to read the 'Patient Information' sheet for more information.
