Let's take a minute to talk about your medication. This is cefdinir, and you should take it as directed. It's important to take cefdinir doses at least 2 hours before or after taking antacids, iron supplements or vitamins with iron. This antibiotic treats infections caused by bacteria, but it can't treat viral infections, like the common cold. People usually tolerate it well and start feeling better soon. But, finish the full course, or the infection could return and become hard to treat. Some people may get an upset stomach, and taking it with meals should help. Diarrhea can occur, too, and your pharmacist can advise you how to lessen this. But, if diarrhea is severe, or lasts more than 2 days, let the doctor know right away, even if it happens weeks from now. Also, women should know that a vaginal yeast infection can occur after taking cefdinir, so seek treatment if this happens. As with any medication, you should call your doctor right away if you notice any unusual changes to your body. For best results, don't skip doses, and try to get plenty of rest.
