This is Cabometyx. It helps treat certain types of kidney cancer. It may have other uses, too. 

Cabometyx is often taken once a day, at the same time each day. You should take it exactly how your doctor tells you to. You must take it on an empty stomach. This means you should not eat for at least 2 hours before your dose and for 1 hour after. You should swallow the tablet whole and with a full glass of water. 

Many people will have side effects. You could feel tired or have a decreased appetite, weight loss, a sore mouth, and changes to the way food tastes. Certain side effects are common, but they can be serious. These include nausea, diarrhea and changes to the skin on the hands and feet. You should always tell your doctor right away if you notice these or other side effects. He or she will help you manage them. 

As with any medicine, more serious side effects can happen. With Cabometyx, these include bleeding, tears in your stomach or intestines, blood clots and more. You should read the Patient Information sheet to know which symptoms to watch for and when to report them. To help keep this medicine safe for you, your doctor will follow your condition closely and will watch for high blood pressure. 

Cabometyx can interact with other medicines. You should always check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking other medicines. Also, you should not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice.

Cabometyx can harm unborn babies. Women must talk to their doctors about which birth control methods to use, and for how long. Also, women should not breastfeed.
