Let's take a minute to talk about your medication.  

This medication contains both acetaminophen and codeine. It starts working to relieve pain about 30 minutes after a dose, but full effects can take longer. You should take it as directed by your doctor. 

At first, some side effects could occur. It could make you feel drowsy or dizzy. So, wait until you know how it affects you before doing activities that require you to be alert, like driving. You could also feel nauseous, and taking it with food might help. If these or other side effects become reasons you want to stop taking it, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist. 

To reduce side effects, you should avoid alcohol. You should also check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking any new medications, especially if they have acetaminophen or Tylenol.   

In rare cases, serious side effects could occur. You should call your doctor right away if you notice difficult or noisy breathing, extreme sleepiness, confusion, rash, or other unusual changes.   

This medication is not safe for children if they have just had surgery on their tonsils or adenoids. It also may not be safe for women who are nursing babies.  

You should store it in a secure place, and discard unused medicine promptly. Your pharmacist can tell you the best way to dispose of it in your area.
