Let's take a minute to talk about your medication. This is carvedilol. Carvedilol is often used to treat high blood pressure or to help treat patients who have had a heart attack. When you start carvedilol, or if your doctor increases your dose, it could make you a little dizzy or light-headed. Standing slowly after you've been sitting or lying down should help. But, if you ever feel like you might faint, sit or lie down and call your doctor right away. At first, some people might feel tired or weak. This is normal and should go away. Still, be careful doing activities that require you to be alert, like driving, until you know how it will affect you. If these or other side effects become reasons you want to stop taking it, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist. But, don't suddenly stop taking it unless your doctor says it's okay. For best results, continue taking carvedilol because it may reduce your risk of having a stroke or heart attack. Also, make sure to follow your doctor's advice about diet, exercise, and checking your own blood pressure, heart rate and weight.
